The 'Samantha' Dress

Introducing the 'Samantha' dress – a modern take on classic sophistication. Striking, yet demure and exuding femininity, this dress style is inspired by the iconic wedding scene dress worn by Grace Kelly in the 1956 film ‘High Society’. This version adds a touch of musical charm, featuring an organza overlay adorned with bold musical notes. Embracing the spirit of the original dress, this piece captures timeless elegance with a contemporary twist, making it perfect for those seeking a blend of vintage allure and modern flair.

The base dress is made of plain, high-quality cotton. The color of the base dress can be changed to nearly any color imaginable (you can input your choice in the pop-up form when adding to your basket). If you change the base color, the binding on the organza and the cuff colour will be adjusted to match that of the base dress. The base dress features an internal waist belt and steel boning. The organza overlay is attached to the base dress and features billowy 3/4 length sleeves, finished to a meticulous standard with French seaming throughout and satin bias-bound edges.

A note on the design: when creating this sample piece, I encountered an issue with difficulty putting on/removing the dress. Therefore, the bodice has been redesigned to fasten at the back instead of the side as pictured. The dress will look the same from the front but will fasten at the rear of the dress with a concealed zip, and bias-bound organza above the dress line (mirroring the look of the front) fixing at the nape of the neck with a popper (snap) fixing. This adjustment will make the dress much easier to step into. Rear photo will be updated to reflect this change soon.
